Fiat Uno master cylinder seals are the wrong seals. I admit, I read fiat (124?) seals and for some reason asked Midas for uno seals.
Anyway, I ended up replacing the whole master cylinder brake unit as the one that came off was scored/pitted inside. R600 seemed to be the lowest price around here.
drained the fluid out of the booster and no more smoke. Also, brakes are better than ever before!

Which master cylinder was the perfect fit? As far as I can remember the Fiat unit had some grinding or drilling to make it fit.. Regards

When I saw the seals were incorrect I ended phoning cape parts as recommended by my friends who works at Autozone (Worked at Midas for a few years) It seems Cape parts supplies both Autozone as well as Midas. Anyway, Cape parts sent me to their site and asked me to confirm their part number "FIA 102", which looked correct. The only trouble I had with getting the brakes to work was this: I was not getting fluid to the back of the master cylinder( Closest to the steering wheel if sitting in the drivers seat). I stripped it all again and saw the "plunger" (Correct term?) has an adjuster in. I turned this inward (As if to make it shorter) and i got fluid coming to the back of the master cylinder. So perhaps this master cylinder is machined differently so that you HAVE to adjust the "Plunger" in order for it to work. Pic: at the end of the spanner you can see the bolt that you turn into the hollow plunger in order to shorten its stroke. Sorry for the bad quality, but anyone doing the job will be able to make it out when they see one in front of them. Looking at the part number, I presume it is from a Fiat of sorts. PS, I hope this is not a problem that we are not in the technical section.

Quick off topic question Dylan. What tinting shade did you do to the lada? Looks like the back windows are darker. Im gonna get 35% ( as in 35% of light gets through ) on the front windows, and either 15% or 5% on the back. What did you get?

Hi Steve (?)
I got the darkest legal limit on the back, to be honest i cannot remember what % it was. You can ask them what the legal limit is and it will be the same nation-wide. I do believe there is one darker than this but obviously, it is illegal. ( i dont see how things like this can be illegal when there are panel vans driving around).
The front is 35%.
Goodluck!

Thanks man. Will prob go for 15% then, 5% has to be ordered specially, and is just a tint and doesnt add protection to the glass. Thought there was only a limit to the front glass maybe. Shot, Steve
