Hi Danie You can hijack the thread as long as they do not hijack any of your cars . Unfortunately it is a sign of the times and the blame should fall on the Government for a total lack of action. A year before we left Jhb I put 7 foot walls and electric fence around my house. This is not the way I like to live. At least in Pennington it is fairly crime free. Regards Ronnie

Hi Ronnie
Our friend in Centurion thinks an aircon might cause problems with oil presure and would sap the power of the Niva. I might agree but this is just guesswork from my side. I'm sure you don't agree ;D
Someone in Cape Town designed one where you had to refill the water every couple of hundred kilometers but us far as I know did not work very well.
I know Natal can be very humid - should have bought a white one ;D

Hi Marius I don`t know how you new but I don't agree ;D. When I ordered Ari`s Lada it was ordered with an air con. The one in his was the prototype one fitted at the factory in Durban. I did not notice much difference in power when it was running, and never had any problems with it. I would have no hesitation in fitting one now. Our RE-BUILDER would only supply the lada in it`s original colour. I was stupid and should have insisted he spray it white. I would have had no problem painting the inside myself I would have removed the motor to paint the engine bay. Too late now Regards Ronnie

That is indeed very interesting! Our friend indicates he "would not touch" one with an aircon If Ari's aircon is still working (which I'm sure it is) - and I remember him stating his oil pressure is fine - it is yet another case of BS.

Bit of a repost - but I think this one gives a better indication of the road conditions - or lack thereof.

Hi Ronnie
If you want the parts of my a/c and the compressor you can have them. The 1/4 light are cool enough for me.

Hi Ronnie and it is a mechanical pressure gauge! I'm not to comfortable with the location and type of fuses used in the Lada. Nothing wrong with the particular type of fuse- just that they hang fairly unsupported Spikes

Hi Spikes
See plenty of complaints about the Lada fuse box. I think if tension is kept on the fuse connectors there should be no problems. People tend to pull the connectors to much when removing fuses then they are loose.

Hi Marius I know you also have plenty of spare time so why do you not tidy up the underside of your Lada. I have been doing mine while I wait for the seal for the gearbox to arrive ;D Ronnie

Hi Ronnie
My spare time has gone out the window a bit! Anyways I see you are getting very experienced at taking the TC down ;D
I kept my Niva's underside very clean but now with all the dust in winter and mud in the summer it's getting a bit tough.
Regards Marius

Hi Marius It is very easy as long as you leave it on the jack. But for me getting it back on the jack underneath the Lada is sh#$%. This time it can stay on the jack as it is only the G/B seal. The local spares has already phoned to say his supplier has no stock, and to phone him tomorrow. Ronnie

Danie thanks for the invite to start a new Thread, although quite some time passed since your post (18 July 2010) . I will have to search the earlier photos and writ-ups on what we did. Look out for a Thread; Lada Mods Project. I hope to add it sometime in the near future?
Other members can then also share some of the mods they have been up to.

Hi Hein
Will you consider posting the file of your photoshopped gauges so other people can also make them?
