Hi All, I recently got the following parts 1.7i (TBI) from Ari: 1) 21213-1006100 – Vibration damper 2) 21213-1006090 - Tensioner shoe In the process of replacement, my Mechanic tells me that the Chain is shot and the Tensioner Assy does not look good, how good I do not know. I need the following parts I think: 1) 2103-1006040-01 - Chain 2) 21213-1006060 - Tensioner Assy
If the Tensioner Assy is not available, I think I would require the following: a) 21213-1006065 - Plunger, tensioner b) 2101-1006066 - Spring, plunger c) 21213-1006068 - Adjuster rod d) 21213-1006072 - Spring, tensioner
Could a TBI Buff please confirm that I have the right stuff identified, and if possible, recommend alternative parts, i.e Fiat, Nissan etc?

Hi Darrel
The TBI parts are the same as the Carb 1.7 model.Your selections are correct.
Get the chain and assy from a genuine spares source, IE Ventz, Mike or Pavel.
Also have a look at camshaft sprocket for wear
Would like to know what is worn on the assy, though? Could be the main spring perhaps.
regards

Funny that you should need those. . . .
I have a Pavel parcel with them in at customs at the moment . . . .

Darrel strip the tensioner. Mine was put back together wrong in the past by someone. Striped it and reasembled it correctly and now its perfect.

Ari I suppose that the parcel is for your own use and not a telepathic message from me to you! Charles I will certainly do it, thanks. Spikes I will let you know what is worn.

I ordered them for a rainy day, seems as though the rain (and snow) has now come. I can always order myself another one I guess ?
Your choice Darrel. . . . .

Ari, this is becoming a bad habit of mine to buy up your rainy day spares! What is in your parcel? Spikes, the sprockets look OK, the Plunger Tensioner (21213-1006065) looks worn at the business end, but that is my humble and unexperienced view, I suspect that 1mm could make a difference? The Tensioner Shoe and the Vibration Damper are severely worn and there are signs on the damper that indicates a slapping/stretched chain caused the damage and the diesel-like engine noise. I Tried to get a replacement Chain but they are not suitable, either too long, short or narrow. There is one more place I will try tomorrow, in the mean time I will contact Ventz and Mike. I cannot afford the Lada standing too long at my helpfull Mechanic, he need space to do business! Thanks to all for good advice!

Hi Darrel Thanks for the feedback. I would replace the plunger and spring(2101-1006066)
Ventz is still overseas until early September
Mike is at work.
If push comes to shove you can install the present Tensioner Assy. until your parts arrive. It is not a major stripping to get it out.
