I was wandering if somebody could help me with the correct oil for Lada.
I want to service Lada but don't want to use any oil.
Please help?

20w50 is fine for the engine. The gearbox must get GL5 oil. 80w90 GL5 for the gearbox. 85w140 GL5 for the diffs and transfercase.

Thanks Charles. I have got the right engin oil at least, but the gearbox oil I have got is the 80w90 gl4. Will this work or will I need new oil for the gearbox as well.

Hello Spikes, thank you very much.
I thought that only the 80w90 is the one you have to look for.
But no problems will have to look to buy other oil as well. Read up about the GL4 and GL5 now, very interesting actually.
Regards, Allen

Hi Allen
You could try Centurion Lada. They might have an original seal for you. Its 14 days if you order for yourself, Ventz is only due back late August I think and as Sparky said Mike does not have stock
If you Gearbox oil is still sealed the suppliers would probably not mind exchanging?

Hello Spikes
I will try Centurion Lada. They said to me last time Gearbox and diff seal is the same, is this correct?
Unfortunately my oil has been opened, topped up my gearbox oil.

I have a spare one in the garage I can send you.
Ari
PS gb seals are separate but diff and tc seals are the same, although there are 2 different ones to take the rotation into account.

I wouldn't worry too much about your GL4 oil in the box. You can change to GL5 with your next service. GL4 will still do the main job though the GL5's spec is higher.
The main thing is to change the oil at the prescribed intervals to protect the bearings.

Hello Ari
Seems like Lada Centurion has got in stock, they asking me R87 for a seal. I guess they are making a major profit on it but i think to get the seal from you will cost the same.
