Great to have such a big Niva fan from Belgium as a LOCSA member - for the benefit of our members that don't speak/understand Afrikaans. This guy has all three basic versions of the Niva and he even named his son Niva - that is just PRIMA! as they say in Dutch Regards Marius

I think you might have made a translation error Marius
"I also have a wife and two children (my son has a Niva)."
"Verder heb ik een vrouw en 2 kinderen (mijn zoon heeft ook een Niva)."

Hallo Jan
Baie welkom - die meeste van on Afrikaans sprekende lede behoort te vertstaan indien jy in Hollands of Vlaams kommunikeer - so gaan gerus voort daarmee !
Net een vraag: Weet jy dalk van n onderdele verskaffer in Belgie of Nederland waarvandaan onderdele teen n billike prys aangekoop kan word ?
Groete
Danie.

In true SA style we show what a REALLY friendly nation we really are --- Except if you're Austrialian BUT does not apply to NIVA owners who just happen to be Australian :-) No worries Mate !!!
LOCSA is showing itself to be a very warm community and I appreciate that.

Hi Jan
You have put a lot of hard work into your Niva, and it looks very good. It is nice to see people from other countries with a love for their Niva.

Hi Jan
I would like to know more about the Turbo diesel transplant.
I would like to consider replacing the 1.7 petrol with the Peugeot 2.0 HDI engine. It is what I currently have in my 206 HDI.
Regards Vincent

vincentc: one of these weeks i'll start to dismantle my second niva diesel. I will take pics and poste them here. Al the specific diesel parts will be mounted in the 2002 petrol body. The engine will be replaced by a citroen xantia 1.9td with intercooler. Know that you can not put a psa diesel in a niva without having the specific niva diesel sump en plate between engine and bell house. The bellhouse itself is also different from a petrol version. if you have all these parts than it is plug and play.

A diesel niva must be a pleasure to drive. Charles exept for the noise, the very heavy steering and the lack of power on the highway it is indeed a pleasure

Your conversion will be interesting. As the PSA engine was a factory model, purchasing the items you would need makes the conversion so much simpler.
I saw a 1600 body that I have decided will be my diesel project as soon as funds become available. It does not have an engine and the interior is shabby - Perfect for a rebuild.

according the internet the price for the conversion kit is 3000€, and that's without engine and transportation! It would be cheaper to search for a vw-diesel kit or a periquet- kit (Renault conversion) To bad you guys live in SA, In France there's lots of Niva diesels for sale The cheapest way to convert to diesel would be a Fiat diesel engine, as it seems to fit to the Niva bellhouse. On the UK niva forum you can find some info about that

I am able to get the 2.0 HDI engine from a 206. I would only need purchase the sump, oil pick up adapter plate, bell housing and engine mounts. the rest could be sourced locally. i would like to see your conversion though. I will check out the UK forum though

good to hear from you again.
I really like the way your front bumper has been trimmed.
Let us know how your TD conversion is coming on.

Hi Vincent
About two or three weeks ago I have been in contact with a guy who imports used engines from Europe. He indicated that he is prepared to import any engine on demand.
If you are interested in a Peugeot diesel conversion, I can forward the importer's e.mail address to you. This guy also seem to have a good knowledge about Ladas.

in belgium is a niva diesel (peugeot) for sale for 600€. Completely rusty, but mechanics are ok. To bad you guys will have to pay a lot to get it in SA.
God to see the forum up and running again!
