I want to know how it goes Charles. Are you only going to put the capacitor in? What does it actually do to the ignition?

Boosting individual spark strength perhaps?

Hi Spikes
I think that the coil packs create and boost the individual spark. There is only one capacitor so I guess it boosts the power in the coil?? Where it gets the power I dont know.

From the positive wire from the ignition switch. I'm referring to the setup Dimitris has in his NIVA, not the 4 Ind. coil setup

The way it is wired it seems to work like a very large condenser.

Hi guys
Yes Ari only the capacitor, if I can find one. The coil is a giant capacitor when it is not releasing spark. The capacitor is just increasing the capacity of the coil. With a quality management system you can bypass the distributor completely. Its a gear on the crank, a sensor, the management system and a coil pack.

No......don't boost the spark, I'll try to explain.
The capacitor is connected in parallel with the primary winding of the ignition coil so creating an oscillating circuit. When it stimulated with the pulse of the electronic ignition starts oscillations at the eigenfrequency which progressively reduced and lengthen the duration of the spark, some msec.......
Sorry, I can't to explain better.....in english

That explanation is fine. Easy to understand.

Interesting. Using the coil packs will be expensive. More info on the capacitor please. Charles charles, i think these are coil packs of a 50 cc scooter

Hein and myself fitted a cap to the coil on my Niva today. Will start testing it next weekend and see how it goes.
